Thursday, 9 a.m.

To first-time guests on a Thursday morning, the sign sitting on the big round table at the back of O'Henry's Coffees may sound a little strange. "This table has been Reserved for the Has Beens." But to those who come in regularly, they can only smile and find another table.

At approximately 9 a.m. the men who deem themselves the "has beens," former radio and T.V. personalities from the Birmingham area, start trickling in to O'Henry's. They all order a small cup of decaf at the counter and grab extra chairs to squeeze around the table. Immediately the jokes start flying and their laughter can be heard throughout the store.

For years O'Henry's has been the rendezvous point for them to linger over cups of coffee and reminisce about their days on the air. Their Thursday morning at O'Henry's is a part of their routine, as well as ours.
